MadJack is an Aussie food restaurant which is very modern and young.It caters to all ages but mainly to the youths-student. The last time I came here was 2 years back when Halal food is scarce and if I’m not wrong,they are one of the pioneers in bringing HALAL fish and chips. Back then, I love the fish and chip at their first Bukit Timah outlet (which is at 6 Duke’s Road before Coronation Plaza).But now, with the abundance of halal fish and chips in Singapore, I grew pampered and forgotten about it,somehow.

And here I am, shuffling my steps to one of its new branch at POMO,located near Selegie.

I like it’s airy new design. It feels bright and airy.Rejuvenatingly fresh and light.Kinda release some bottled-up “chi” in me.

I have the pleasure of dining with Mr Naim and he explains what MadJack is all about and what are its specialities.

MadJack is the brainchild of a loving couple who have experience working in Australia in the F & B. Thus wanting to bring back those fond memories and lovely food that they encounter, they create MadJack.

I like their MadJack food “philosophies” which includes 5 STAR Quality Ingredients,Fresh & Natural ingredients ,NO MSG & preservative,NO Tenderizer & artificial flavoring,Freshly cooked on-the-spot,Oil-Free but tasty salad,Low in salt…

To me, with these in mind, I believe the customers are able to enjoy the food with great ease.Cos they know that MadJack are not only concerned about serving quality food and service,they are also health conscious.

Thus when you start thinking about healthy food,what is the next concern? Price..right? It’s weird that the healthier the food is the higher the price tag is. Have you seen those organic vegetables in the supermarkets? It’s a wonder how MadJack keep the prices low just for the customers. In fact, even students have certain perks and discounts. This enable them to keep coming for more.

Ok, enough of the ramblings….Let’s get to the food before it gets cold.

First drink was the “Complexion Enhancer”..Although there is no sugar added, it was nice. I can taste the green guava,oranges and cucumber. Refreshing.I can almost feel a certain glow in my skin *chuckles…

This Rib-eye is one of their speciality. Wide but slightly thin steak. I asked for medium-rare, it was very tender and soft.I was amazed that they did not use any tenderiser for this.The black pepper sauce was mild, kinda slightly creamy…just nice.The veggies are steamed, just right. I can taste its own natural sweetness with a crunch! Mashed potato was alright.

Grilled Fish in cream sauce was nice. It was supposed be in honey lemon sauce (probably that will fare better to my palate). I admit that I am more of a sourish lemony than a creamy cheesy gal.
As I scrutinised the menu, I cannot help myself when I saw this “For Choc Die Hards”. I have to raise my hand on that. I am a true blue Chocolate fan. I must be MAD to miss this. And as what the menu stated-the richest chocolate cake, I have to agree to that! It’s like Sara Lee type of cake except that this is lighter, moisty and best served warm.And its definitely very RICH in chocolates. Lucky for me, Mr Naim is not a fan of chocolates, so I have this sweet delight all to myself. Woo-hoo! Thumbs up!

TiraMadsu is the complete opposite. Since it is Mr Naim’s favourite, I just need to taste it for myself.. It’s tripled shots Expresso sponge, sandwiched between freshly whipped cream and chocolate flakes. It’s bitter, spongey and light. After eating the whole chocolate slice (above), its actually interesting to note that my tongue actually embrace this Tiramadsu and as I eat more, Im beginning to like it. Like there is a balance of sweet and bitter…just like life.Life is a balance.


One thing I realised about this branch, aside from people watching, my eyes are endlessly wandering about the restaurant’s quirky gimmicks in their posters and banners. I like the part – “Your mother doesn’t work here, please clean up your own mess” and as I read further…I realised I am one of the ….”Only Morons read notices”… *chuckles

Well, it was a very brief but enlightening to know that MadJack is a healthy option in our dining out choices. I embraced this type of establishments that seek out to educate its consumers on healthier eating. And trust me, healthy food does taste good….So bring down the whole family for some MadJack!
